Kashmiri Separatist Leader Syed Ali Geelani visited Regional Passport Office on Friday to complete the biometric formalities for an Indian passport. He told the reporters that he is not an Indian by birth but by compulsion.
He applied to the passport to visit his ailing daughter, Farhat Jabeen, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He reached the RPO at the scheduled time of his appointment at 10.15 am. While submitting his passport application online last month, he left the nationality column on it blank. He mentioned “Indian” in the nationality column at RPO after he was told that his application would not be processed if the nationality column is left blank.
Geelani added that Kashmir is an occupied land and getting an Indian passport for travelling abroad is a compulsion.
