Indian artifacts, handicraft at display in Kuwaiti festival

Indian artifacts, handicraft, hand-crafted jewellery, sarees and other items promoting the country’s cultural diversity were on display at a festival in Kuwait city.

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait participated in the 14th Hala February Festival (HFF) 2013 this year in order to showcase Indian culture in the Gulf nation.

The festival is organised to celebrate the liberation of Kuwait from Iraq in 1991. Since its inception in 1999 the
festival is celebrated with a grand carnival and a fair to promote tourism in the war torn nation.

This year the festivities will continue till March 9. The Indian mission joined the celebrations by participating with a music and dance group in the opening ceremony on Friday.

A large number of visitors visited the India pavilion and showed keen interest in the exhibits, the embassy said in a
statement.
