Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has said the country would have surpassed the developed countries had former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi lived longer.
Addresssing the party activists after paying tributes to Rajiv Gandhi at Gandhi Bhavan on the occasion of former Prime Minister’s 22nd death anniversary, the Chief Minister recalled that Rajiv Gandhi had taken historic decisions for welfare of the masses. A dynamic leader with a vision, Rajiv Gandhi had brought technology within the reach of the common man in the country.
PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana said the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi was indispensable for the country at this juncture. He also recalled that Rajiv Gandhi had taken historic decisions like giving voting right to the 18 years olds and financial and administrative powers to the local bodies.
The Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday organized Rajiv Gandhi’s 22nd death anniversary on a large scale. A galaxy of Congress leaders, including Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC Chief Botcha Sathyanarayana, Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasaimha, Legislative Council Chairman Dr A Chakrapani, ministers, Danam Nagender, Kondru Murali Mohan, Lok Sabha MPs M. Anjan Kumar Yadav, Lagadapati Rajagopal and others paid floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi at his statue at Somajiguda crossroads.
Later, the Congress leaders drove to Gandhi Bhavan and paid floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi’s portrait. The Chief Minister, PCC Chief and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao, former PCC Chief attended the program. (NSS)
