India, U.S agree to further strengthen relations

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 90- minute dinner meeting with U.S President Barack Obama in the White House, both sides felt that the Indo-US relation is among the most important in the world and it was incumbent for both sides to strengthen it.

“Both sides felt that the Indo-US relation is among the most important in the world and it was incumbent for both to strengthen it. They only felt that there were possibilities of deepening and strengthening Indo-US relations,” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin announced here.

“They both felt relations were good but they need to move to the next level,” he added.

During the dinner, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S President Barack Obama also exchanged anecdotes of how they saw their first few months in office, as a way of understanding each other.

“The Prime Minister laid out his hopes and aspirations, his development vision. They agreed to take up more substantive issues tomorrow morning. In general there was a lot of goodwill for India and US in each other’s countries,” Akbaruddin added.

He also informed that there was a long discussion about Prime Minister Modi’s efforts to clean up Ganga during the dinner meeting, where the Prime Minister did not have anything except warm water as he was fasting. (ANI)
