India Test hero Yadav gets ODI call up

New Delhi: India on Tuesday called up Umesh Yadav, the 10 wicket hero of the Test triumph over West Indies, to replace injured bowler Shardul Thakur for the one-day squad to take on the Caribbean tourists.

Paceman Thakur suffered a groin injury bowling against West Indies in the second Test that India won inside three days on Sunday.

The Indian selection committee said in a statement that Yadav — who took six wickets in the first inning and four in the second — would take Thakur’s place for the first two of the five one day internationals.

The five match series starts in Guwahati on Sunday.
