India tells NZ to find whereabout of missing student

New Delhi, October 13: The Government has asked its mission in New Zealand to take steps to find out the whereabout of an Indian student who went missing in Auckland earlier this month under suspicious circumstances.

23 year-old Srikanth Rayadurgam, who was to start a diploma in culinary arts at Auckland University of Technology, is reported missing since October one, after he failed to return to his sister’s home in Mount Albert.

“It is a matter of concern. We have asked our High Commission there to take up the issue with local authorities,” Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi said.

Rayadurgam came to New Zealand in February and was living with his elder sister and her family and working part-time as a chef in an Indian restaurant, before starting his course.

His family launched a search for him after finding that Rayadurgam had withdrawn NZD 250 on the day he went missing.
