New Delhi [India]: After China took strong objection to Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama’s sharing dais with President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan during a children’s summit, India on Friday rebuffed Beijing’s charges, saying it was a non-political event orgnaised by Nobel Laureates dedicated to the welfare of children.
“You are aware of India’s consistent position. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a respected and revered spiritual leader. It was a non-political event organised by Nobel laureates dedicated to the welfare of children,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.
India’s response came after China expressed its displeasure over Dalai Lama’s visit to the President House to attend ‘Laureates and Leaders’ Summit for Children organised by Kailash Satyarthi’s Children’s Foundation.
The two-day Summit was held from December 10 to 11. (ANI)
