India racist, ashamed to born here: Madras HC judge

High drama was witnessed at Madras high court on Monday when Justice C.S. Karnan of the Madras High Court said that he was ashamed that he born in a country where caste system still exists.

Karnan who was addressing the media at the gates pronounced that “India is a racist nation, caste discrimination is there. I am ashamed to have been born in India. I would like to migrate to some other country where caste system is not there”.

“I am totally innocent. I was a victim of caste discrimination since I raised questioned against certain judges,” he said.

Last week, a panel of judges headed by the Chief Justice ordered that Justice Karnan would be transferred to the Calcutta High Court.

In December last year, Justice Karanan levelled charges against the the Madras High Court senior most judge Sanjay Kaul, of harassment and belittlement.

Karnan also announced that he would issue a judicial order directing the Chennai police commissioner to arrest, under the SC/ST (prevention of atrocities) Act, the two Supreme Court judges who had earlier in the day ordered that no work be allocated to him.

Alleging that the Supreme Court had transferred him without hearing his arguments, Justice Karnan said the order is against the Constitution. The judge said that he will order FIR against the SC judges.

“Since I am a Dalit, the order has been issued against me,” he said. “Instead of addressing the issues, they (judges) have targeted me,” he added.
