India Post launches sale of Godavari Pushakaram water

The Department of Posts, A. P circle, launched sale of sacred Godavari Pushkaram Water (God-Jal) through Post Offices in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states during the ensuing Godavari Pushkaram period from 14th to 25th July.

Speaking to media on the occasion here on Wednesday, Chief Postmaster General A.P Circle B V Sudhakar said that the public, especially who are staying away from Godavari River belt, old age persons and poor will benefit from this initiative.

The water will be drawn from the Godavari River during the Pushkar Period only and purified as Bureau of India Standards by a certified Company at Rajahmundry. The Andhra Pradesh state government has permitted DoP for this and bottling will be done 500 ml bottle and the cost of each bottle will be Rs. 20/ including the home delivery charges in India.

Sudhakar also informed that A.P postal circle will setup 14-new post offices in this financial year. The total earnings registered a growth of 29 per cent mainly due to savings bank accounts. He also expressed hope that with the efforts of postal employees, the new revenue target of Rs. 1588 crore could be achieved for 2015-16. To mark the Godavari River Pushkaralu, various competitions for the school children are planned.

The booking for GOD-JAL bottles will be done during June 3 to July 14 at all the branch post offices, Sub-Post offices and Head Post Offices across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States.

Online bookings facility provided through newly developed e-Commerce website www.appost.in/eshop. International orders will be sent through WorldNet Express and domestic orders through speed post by charging applicable postage and packing charges. Purified Godavari Pushkaram Water (GOD-JAL) bottles will be delivered from July 15. (INN)
