Thimphu, April 29: A high level Bangladesh delegation led by the advisor to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit India next week to identify projects for the one billion dollar credit line offered to that country by New Delhi.
This was revealed by Bangladesh Prime Minister to her Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh when they met on the sidelines of the SAARC Summit which concluded this evening here. The two leaders discussed areas of cooperation between the two countries. Ms Sheikh Hasina also informed that her country was making progress towards resolving river water sharing issues with India. She said the Joint Convention on River Water, which met recently, should continue dialogue to resolve various water issues between the two nations. Dr Singh also held a bilateral with Nepalese Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal in which he stressed India’s support for multi-party democracy and hoped for forward movement in the Nepalese Constitution.
Mr Madhav Kumar invited Dr Singh to Nepal to follow-up on to his recent visit to India. He apprised the Indian Prime Minister of the internal situation in Nepal, its Constitution, and steps taken to integrate Maoists in the mainstream of Nepalse polity. Later, Dr Singh received the Bhutanese King Jigme K Namgyal Wanchuk who had visited India in last December. The two dignitaries recalled unique relationship between the two countries. Both expressed deepest satisfaction over the bilateral relationship. Dr Singh lauded the building of democratic institutions in Bhutan. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to meet Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse later in the evening.
