New Delhi: The blueprint for reconstruction of the building of India Islamic Culture Centre (IICC) is almost done. The architectural design of the 5-storied magnificent building was given a green signal in the general body meeting of the centre yesterday. The building will be constructed with a cost of 40 crore rupees.
Centre chief Sirajuddin Quraishi said funds will not be a hurdle for reconstruction of modern, exemplary state-of-art structure of the centre. Several members announced donations of lakhs of rupees in the general body meeting itself. It will take two years for the building to complete.
Two floors of the building will be underground while three will be above the ground. The new building will have 52 rooms. A convention centre with a seating capacity of 2000 people is also in the plan. A big underground parking area which will accommodate nearly 150 vehicles will also be available.
India Islamic Cultural Centre was founded with the objectives of mutual understanding and amity amongst the people of this country and to depict the true face of Islam which is most tolerant, liberal, progressive, rational and forward-looking religion besides being based on cardinal principles of human values irrespective of faith, caste, creed and colour.
