Overseas investment by the Indian companies rose by 40.4 per cent to USD 3.14 billion in January 2016, the Reserve Bank data showed today.
In January 2015, Indian companies had invested USD 2.24 billion in overseas markets.
The investments were in the form of issuance of guarantees (USD 1.41 billion), loan (USD 193.05 million) and of equity (USD 1.54 billion).
The major investors include Emcure Pharma, Glenmark Pharma, Edelweiss Financial, Shree Renuka Sugara, Living Entertainment, Gujarat State Fertilisers and Chemicals, Infosys.
Emcure Pharmaceuticals made an investment of USD 112.92 million during January in overseas market, Edelweiss Financial Services USD 100.85 million and Shree Renuka Sugars USD 100.5 million.
Among others include Glenmark Pharmaceuticals USD 86.82 million, Living Entertainment Enterprises USD 62.23 million, Gujarat State Fertilisers and Chemicals USD 41.1 million and Infosys USD 32.56 million.
