Bangalore, February 27: Dhoni’s youthful team should be looking for a repeat performance in their World Cup match today when they take on a formidable England which has a string of successes in recent times and is rearing to take home the cup.
Rested well and having had sufficient time to recover from niggles, the Indian players are grearing up for entertaining cricket to thrill the Sunday crowd in a bid to register its second win in Group B after having convincingly trounced Bangladesh by 87 runs at Mirpur on February 19.
Brimming with confidence, England too is not going to be a soft target for the home team which showed its winning skills even in the practice matches downing Australia and New Zealand.
Both the teams will take the field with a win in their opening matches though coming in contrasting styles. While India made a mockery of Bangaladesh to take a revenge of their 2007 World Cup defeat, England had to overcome a tough challenge from the Netherlands to garner full points.
England Skipper Andrew Strauss said it would be a big challenge for his team to take on India on its home soil, But the rivals would be having more pressure than them. ”A win here would lift the team’s spirits high to perform well in the remaining matches” he said, adding his side’s fielding ”will be an important factor”.
