Jaipur, August 18: Demanding waiving of power bills of farmers and a CBI probe into the murder case of a man in Lalsot, a massive rally which began from Dausa last weekend under the leadership of independent MP Kirorilal Meena reached the state capital amid tight security, police said.
“A rally of over 10,000 people was stopped at Khania area on the outskirts of the Pink City and Principal Home Secretary S N Thanvi is holding talks with Kirorilal, who is the husband of State Minister for Khadi Golma Devi,” the police told PTI.
Kirorilal is travelling on jeep while his followers have walked right from Dausa, the police said, adding so far no untoward incident occurred as the situation was quite normal there.
Meanwhile, in a statement Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot criticised Kirorilal’s protest march, saying he (Kirorilal) should have first demonstrated outside the house of his wife, who is a minister in the government, at Dausa.
Gehlot alleged Kirorilal was playing local politics in the garb of power and other issues which was most unfortunate.
“Had Golma Devi, the state minister, failed to solve Kirorilal’s grievances, then only the Chief Minister’s office be approached,” Gehlot said. .
