Congress MP V. Hanumantha Rao on Sunday demanded that the Central and State Governments raise the ‘creamy layer’ criterion for Backward Classes from the present annual salary of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here, Hanumantha Rao said that the National Commission for Backward Classes has already recommended increase in ‘creamy layer’ criterion limit and both the Central and State Government should be raised to Rs. 15 lakh. He warned of severe agitation by the BCs if the demand is not met.
Speaking about the forthcoming GHMC elections, VHR expressed confidence that the Congress party would win the elections with a thumping majority. He said that the Congress party was quite strong in Greater Hyderabad and it would win maximum number of seats to stake claim on Mayor’s post. He also dismissed reports differences among Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee and Ranga Reddy DCC leaders. He said such reports were being spread by a section of media only to demoralise the party workers. He said all Congress leaders would unitedly fight the elections. (INN)
