Incorrect to say Telangana stir hampered Andhra progress: TRS

Hyderabad, September 14: TRS today claimed that the there is no truth in the reported comments of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah that the separate Telangana agitation has hampered the state’s progress.

“The Chief Minister should not twist the facts. It is not correct for him to say that Telangana agitation hampered the state’s progress. The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) this year is 9.26 per cent which is 0.45 per cent higher than the national average. The growth rate last year was 7.68 per cent,” TRS MLA and party president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s son K T Rama Rao told reporters here.

“The state’s revenue this year is Rs 55,548 crore, an increase of Rs 4,700 crore from last year,” he said.

“These figures show that Telangana agitation did not affect the agitation adversely. Rosaiah says software companies are having apprehensions about investing in Hyderabad. The truth is companies like Facebook are setting up offices in Hyderabad. In fact, a major company like Brandix did not invest in Visakhapatnam in coastal Andhra as promised,” he said.

Speaking at a meeting organised by FICCI here today, Rosaiah said software firms had apprehensions about investing in Hyderabad, but there is no problem now.

The government provided protection to the IT companies and the managements are happy now, he said.
