Electronic media has expanded enormously which created many problems in the field of Journalism. Even today, print media is popular among the people. There is a need to include moral values in the syllabus of Journalism. These thoughts were expressed by the senior Journalist of Delhi and Editor of “Khabardaar-e-Jadeed” , Mr. Masoom Moradabadi during an extension lecture delivered for the benefit of the students of Journalism of Maulana Azad National Urdu University yesterday. He further told that Journalism was a “Mission“. It was appropriate. When it became a profession, problems started. Publishing news items after accepting money has become a serious issue. In order to stop such unhealthy practices, it is essential to include moral values and ethics of Journalism in the curriculum of mass communication. Along with providing education in Journalism, Human values should also be taught to the students. Addressing the students, he told that there is no substitute for honesty. He told that Journalism is a trust of the people. Editor is the owner of the newspaper but the new items and other materials are like a trust which the people have entrusted to him. Editor can express his opinion freely only in Editorials. To stop or black out the news are against the ethics of Journalism. He advised the students that if they want to make Urdu Journalism a career, it is essential for them to gain mastery over Urdu language. The greatest challenge for an Urdu Journalist is to use the simplest possible Urdu languages. He termed Hyderabad as the capital of Urdu Journalism. He also told that Urdu newspapers published from Hyderabad are not published from Delhi. Mr. Ehtesham Ahmed Khan, Head of the Dept. of Communication and Journalism of Urdu University introduced Mr. Masoom Muradabadi to the students. Mr. Mohammed Mustafa Ali Sarwari, Associate Professor and Husain Abbas Rizvi, Asst. Professor was also present on this occasion. Mr. Masoon Muradabadi answered the questions put to him by the students of Journalism of Urdu University.
