Hyderabad, December 09: Constitutionally our country is secular where all religions are equally respected but on account of the inclination of the bureaucrats of the Govt. this spirit is not followed. Due to this practice, a particular religion gets supremacy over other religions. In the name of Indian Culture and Civilization, Hindu rituals and Hindu faith are popularized. Our legislators keep quiet on such occasions.
The Dept. of Registration and stamps kept in mind all the Hindu rituals on the occasion of the inauguration of the building of Registration Bhavan.
The rites and rituals of other religions were set aside completely. It seemed as if a building of a Hindu household is being inaugurated.
On the other hand, narrow mindedness was practiced at Govt. level. A police officer exhibited his linguistic narrow mindedness when press reporters were entering into the building, Mr. G. Shyam Sunder inspector of Begum Bazar Police Station was allowing their entry into the building after asking their names. When he asked the name and the organization of an Urdu journalist he could not understand anything. What he understood was only an Urdu Daily. He immediately told him “What is your work here?” The Journalist showed him his identity card without telling him anything. When the inspector read the name of the newspaper, he started perspiring. He calmly slipped from the spot.
A.P. has declared Urdu as the second language of the State Govt. but in practice, it is not implemented at any level. There are many Urdu newspapers published from Hyderabd which have the largest circulation in the country and they have very good influence on public. Despite this, Govt. officials exhibit hostility towards Urdu because they know that nobody will take any action against them.
