Imran Khan plans to set up a animal farm

Mumbai, June 14: The actor is planning on setting up a home for stray animals in Panvel

Animal-loving Imran Khan has plans of setting up a home for strays at a plot of land he owns in Panvel.

Exploring options
Says a source, “Like his uncle (Aamir), Imran loves animals and has grown up around them. The young actor had even adopted a male Labrador puppy last year. Imran tracked down the owner of the puppy who didn’t want to keep it anymore and took it to his own home in Pali Hill at Bandra. And now, he wants open an animal shelter for strays in Panvel and is exploring various options on how to go about it.”

Imran, who has two dogs and three cats at his Bandra bungalow, says, “Yes, I have land in Panvel which I’m developing as an animal shelter. The aim is to be able to take care of any kind of animal, and I want to have a vet on staff permanently. As of now, I’m funding it entirely by myself, but I’m hoping to tie up with a larger organisation so that I can expand further.”

Instead of approaching a single organisation to fund the project has Imran thought of approaching people and corporates for funding such a noble cause. He says, “I haven’t really thought about additional funding, right now I’m focused on getting started.”

Imran adds, “My family has always had pets and we’ve always rescued animals. This is just an extension of that.”
