Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has been elected the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief Imran Khan has been elected as the 22nd Prime Minister of the country by getting 176 votes. On Friday, of the total National Assembly members, 176 voted in favour of Imran Khan, while his opponent, President Muslim League N K Shahbaz received 96 votes. Hence, making the way clear for the PTI chief to become the new PM.
While addressing the National Assembly for the first time as PM-elect, Imran Khan vowed that he would not spare the ones who looted the country. He said “I am grateful to Almighty Allah and the nation for giving me the opportunity to bring a change which the nation wanted. The nation was longing for the change we will bring.” He promised “strict accountability” and to bring back the looted wealth of the country.
He told “I promise my nation that I will do strict accountability. No robber would be given an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance).”
