Implement right to education act: Jeevan

Congress MLA from Jagtial T Jeevan Reddy on Saturday urged the State government to take immediate measures for strict implementation of Right to Education Act, which mandated 25 percent of reservation to the weaker sections in the admissions in private schools.
Jeevan Reddy wrote to the Chief Minister making the request.
Informing this at the Assembly Media Point on Saturday, Jeevan Reddy said the Telangana remained backward in Education due to negligence of the successive governments in the earlier undivided Andhra Pradesh. Pointing out the assurance of the Chief Minister to extend free education from KG to PG, he reminded that now-a-days, parents were preferring to admit their children in English medium schools and government English medium schools were very few in the State. Hence, the parents were admitting their children in private English medium schools even though it was economically unbearable burden to them, he added.
Reminding that the School Education department issued GOMS No 44 on July 30, 2010 for implementation of Right to Education Act and 25 percent quota to weaker sections in private schools, the senior Congress legislator urged the Chief Minister to make available English medium sections available at all the government schools.
