Implement Naidu’s Promises If You Can: TDP’s Challenge To Kiran

TDP senior leader Dadi Veerabhadra Rao has strongly criticized the Chief Minister Kran Kumar Reddy for questioning why the TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu should make promises to the people as he was not in power to fulfill them.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, Dadi has challenged the Chief Minister to fulfill the promises being made by Naidu in the remaining one-and-a-half years and help thepeople if he could. He has questioned if Kiran was stating that Naidu should not make promises to the people and include such promises in the party’s election manifesto. He said if Kiran failed to fulfill the promises being made by Naidu now, he TDP would implement all of them if it was returned to power in 2014. He said his party would waive the debts of farmers as promised. Stating that there was need to help the farmers, Dadi said instead of doing that the Congress government was helping the industrialists by offering them subsidies worth lakhs of crores of rupees.

The leader of the opposition in the Council has alleged that the late Chief Minister Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has allowed his henchmen to plunder lakhs of crores of rupees worth mineral wealth. He said if TDP came to power, it would entrust mining through tenders and take steps to enhance the income to the government exchequer. Stating that it was improper on the part of the Chief Minister to ridicule the opposition leader for making promises to the people, Dadi said even the YSR Congress leader Sharmila was also criticizing the TDP chief instead of telling people what her party would be able to do to the people.

Dadi said the Chief Minister was defying even the central government which has directed states to provide 9 cooking gas cylinders at subsidized rates. He said when people unable to bear the high prices and farmers put to hardships were telling their woes to the opposition leader, it was unfortunate that the Chief Minister was making fun of the situation. He has reminded that YSR had opposed the loan waiver scheme in 2008 and also expressed his opposition in the Assembly. Dadi has also said that YSR had recommended to the centre to limit subsidy to farmers to Rs. 5000. he has also claimed that it was because the third front had promised loan waiver in 2008, that the then finance minister Chidambaram has announced waiver of loans to the tune of Rs. 60,000 cr. He has also claimed that it was Naidu who inspired the UPA in loan waiver.

CALL ALL PARTY MEETING

Another TDP leader E Peddi Reddy has said his party would make constructive suggestions if an all party meeting was called by the government. He has reminded that the CAG has pointed out that public funds to the tune of Rs. 8.5 lakh crore was misused during the Congress rule. He has also pointed out that the CBI has mentioned that the state had lost Rs.45,000 crore in its 4 charge sheets against the YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. He has also charged that though the late Chief Minister Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has spent Rs. 70,000 crore on Jala Yagnam, not a single acre got irrigation water. (NSS)
