Hyderabad: Mr. Mohammed Saleem, Chairman, Telangana State Wakf Board has issued orders for the payment of honoraria to Imams and Muazzins within a week. He convened a meeting with CEO of Wakf Board, Mr. Mannan Farooqui and other officials and expressed his wrath for not paying honoraria to the Imams and Mauzzins for the past 9 months. He also instructed the officials to increase the staff in the concerned section.
It may be mentioned that more than 9000 Imams and Mauzzins have not been paid their honoraria for the past 9 months. In the city of Hyderabad, arrears have to be paid since September 2017 whereas in the districts, these amounts have to be paid since July 2017.
The officials of Wakf Board informed that the delay is being caused due to insufficient staff. They also informed that arrangements have been made to pay all the arrears by the end of March.
It may be noted that up to 31st March 2017, Imams were getting Rs. 1000 per month whereas from 1st April 2017, this amount has been enhanced to Rs. 1500 per month. The chairman told the officials to clear all the pending cases by the end of this month. He further said that any kind of delay in processing the applications of Imams and Mauzzins will not be tolerated.
