Imam of mosque hurt in lathi-charge during Telangana sit-in

Hyderabad, January 11: Police lathi-charged an imam of a mosque during collectorate blockade staged by Telangana Joint Action Committee. Imam sustained leg bone fracture in police caning.

It is said that Syed Laeq Ali an imam of a local mosque at Pirgi who is taking an active part in Telangana movement yesterday reached Rangareddy collectorate on the appeal made by Joint Action Committee wherein he had to face police beating.

Syed Laeq Ali was immediately shifted to Osmania General Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

On learning about the incident Managing Editor Siasat daily and advisor Telangana Praja Front Mr. Zaheer Uddin Ali Khan made a contribution of Rs 3000 for his treatment. Muslim leaders handed over the amount to the Imam.

Deeply affected by Imam saheb’s commitment Mr. Zaheer Uddin Ali Khan said on the occasion ‘after this incident no one can prove Muslims as anti Telangana. Today the efforts of Imam saheb have challenged all those anti-Telangana and anti-Muslim minority forces.’

‘Not only general Muslims but Imams too are taking active part in Telangana Movement which guarantees the fact that Muslims will streamline their future with their own hands in the separate Telangana state.’ He said.
