According to the police, 4 people died after consuming illicit liquor in Vijayawada while the condition of other two is stated to be critical. The incident took place on Friday morning at Brahmanaveedhi in the old town of Vijayawada in Krishna district.
All the victims were believed to have purchased liquor from the same outlet. The families of the victims came out in protest and the CM has ordered a probe into the incident
According to officials, use of industrial methyl alcohol or denatured spirit (mixture of ethanol and methanol) in making moonshine, is the main cause behind such tragedies.
