Illegally detained Muslims in Hyd released

Hyderabad, April 06: The corporator of Azampur Amjadullah Khan had registered a complaint to the Chiarperson of Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) Sri Subramanya Reddy against the arreas and illegal detention of Muslim Youth by the Hyderabad police.

While passing an interim order, Mr Reddy demanded the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad to submit a report with this regard.

The commissioner sent a letter to APSHRC through a personal messenger requesting a week’s time to submit the detailed report. After which, the APSHRC Chairperson insisted the commissioner to submit the report by the 5th of April.

While addressing the media after meeting Mr Reddy, Amjadullah Khan claimed that subsequent to the submission of his petition to the APSHRC, many Muslim’s who were randomly picked by the Hyderabad police and were kept under illegal detention, were released.

A few others were booked under false cases and were remanded to judicial custody. Mr Khan thanked the Chairperson of APSHRC for his timely help.
