Demolition of illegal constructions in the controversial Greenfields lands has led to tension in the area.Even as a legal battle was pending in the court over Greenfields lands’ issue, several buildings came up on the land illegally. In the wake of the raging controversy leading to the interrogation of former minister and Cantonment MLA Dr P. Shankar Rao by the police, the Revenue officials launched felling of the illegal structures.
However, local residents expressed displeasure over the demolition of the buildings in Greenfields without serving notices by the Revenue authorities. On the other hand, Dayanand, brother of Dr Shankar Rao, said they have no objection to the demolition drive launched by the Revenue officials.
