Illegal SR1 million visa business busted

Jeddah, July 05: Police’s patience wore thin over the Jacob Brothers’ illegal visa business, arresting the three brothers at their den in the Jeddah downtown area Saturday in a major sweep on illegal visa dealers.

Police described it as one of the highly-guarded and profitable illegal businesses.
The gang of three brothers targeted foreign workers who wanted to come to the Kingdom on work visa at a tag price of SR10,000 each.

As discretely marketed to qualified buyers, the illegal business soon spread like wildfire among Jeddah expatriates, eating up the hard-earned money of easy visa seekers.

The police agents closely monitored the movement of the gang and slowly penetrated it to seal a bogus visa deal.

A police agent contacted one of Jacob’s brothers for a mouthwatering deal that he did not resist. When it was time for visa collection, the police raided the gang’s den and arrested the three brothers.

The police found over SR1 million in cash and tens of customers’ passports. Jacob said that the SR1 million was only three days’ work.

“All found passports will be investigated to find out more about the customers,” said Col. Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman of the Jeddah Police Department.
