Illegal sand worth Rs 1.38 cr seized in Aurangabad; 12 held

Illegally excavated sand worth Rs 1.38 crore has been seized near here in Central Maharashtra and 12 persons have been arrested in this connection, officials said today. The sand was stored at various places near the river banks in Paithan tehsil of Aurangabad district. Teams led by Tehsildar Rajiv Shinde and Police Inspector Bhagwat Funde raided the spots in Naigaon and other villages and seized the sand worth Rs 1.38 crore, they said. A dozen persons have been arrested in connection with the seizures, the officials said. PTI
