Illegal occupation on Mushk Mahal land

The Mushk Mahal in Attapur lies in ruins thanks to the negligence of Waqf Board and GHMC’s heritage wing. According to Waqf Board officials a land grabber Kanta Reddy has illegally occupied the 300-year-old structure and the land under it. He is planning to do plotting on the 5 acre 34 guntas of land.

Although 5 acre 34 guntas of land is mentioned in Waqf gazette but various records reveal that the land under Mushk Mahal is 10 acre. Kanta Reddy is said to have used GCP machines, the day before, to level the land of Mushk Mahal. However some local youth sprung into action and informed Waqf Board who in turn sent a team to the spot to review the situation. The Waqf board team approached Cyberabad commissioner Mr. C V Anand and requesting him to stall the leveling work.

It must be recalled that Andhra Pradesh Waqf Tribunal in an order issued in 2010 had directed to maintain status quo in respect of the land possession, which is worth 50 crore rupees.

Mushk Mahal is a fine example of Qutub Shahi era architecture which once served as a religious madrasa.
