Hyderabad, December 1: Authorities of Deccan waqf properties protection society halted the illegal construction work on the 2 acre land of Toli Masjid by making timely representation with the police. The construction work was continued despite High Courts order to maintain status quo on the waqf land of Toli mosque. The land grabbers who were trying to occupy the land have the backing of a state minister hence the local police was refusing to stop the construction.
When president Deccan Waqf properties Protection Society Mr. Osman bin Mohammad Alhajari saw the situation he informed Muslim Congress leaders former minister Mohammad Jani, general secretary Pradesh congress committee Abid Rasool Khan and president Minority department Pradesh Congress Committee Mohammad Sirajuddin on which the leaders called attention of commissioner of police Mr. A K Khan towards the issue and appealed to stop the construction at once.
It must be recalled that 27 acre and 30 guntas land is recorded under auqaf and large portion of it has been encroached upon. To perpetuate the possession the land grabbers have setup fake temples in various parts of the land.
Illegal land grabbers are trying to give religious colour to the matter so that police may avoid intervening into it.
After receiving the information of non cooperation of police waqf board chairman Mr. Ghulam Afzal Biabani Khusro Pasha directed the chief executive officer not to remain silent and asked him to stop the construction.
After much hustle they succeeded to put a halt on the construction work.
