Illegal construction continues on Wakf land at Gutla Begumpet

Hyderabad: A decision has been taken to register a case in the police station against the continuing illegal construction on wakf land pertaining to Eidgah, Gutla Begumpet.

On inviting attention from the local residents and the representatives of Masjid Committee, Mr. Mohammed Saleem, Chairman of Wakf Board sent a team of wakf officials to conduct on the spot inspection and lodge a complaint in the police station against the illegal occupants. CEO of Wakf Board, Mr. Shahnawaz Qasim contacted concerned police officials and instructed them to stop illegal constructions.

It may be mentioned that despite High Court orders to maintain ‘status quo’, the local companies have continued construction work. These illegal constructions have been extended up to the land belonging to Masjid Alamgir. The occupants took possession of the passage to masjid and parking space.

The surprising thing is that the illegal occupants have been violating court orders but police and revenue officials are keeping quiet which clearly indicates that they are supporting them.

It may be noted that there is 90 acre wakf land pertaining to Eidgah and Masjid and most of it is in the possession of the illegal occupants. Wakf Board made a complaint in the police and filed two petitions of contempt of court. Despite all these actions, the illegal occupants are continuing their construction activities. Wakf Board is not getting cooperation from Revenue and Police Officials due to which wakf land could not be protected.

The illegal occupants challenged the new gazette notification in the High Court. Wakf Board has commissioned the services of noted lawyers to plead this case.

Now that there are only three days left for Eid-ul-Fitr prayer, Wakf Board has started making arrangements for the festival. It is causing difficult to worshippers since the approach passage has been narrowed down and parking space has also been reduced. There is a proposal to erect fencing on the passage and parking space.

CEO of Wakf Board, Mr. Shahnawaz Qasim told that Wakf Board has complete record of Wakf land of this property.
