A 39-year-old IITian fearing HIV infection kills his family by setting his wife and kids ablaze in a car. Later he tried to commit suicide. When tested for the virus it turns out that he is HIV negative.
He said that he used to visit Delhi’s red light areas and six months ago he had an ulcer in his mouth. When he Googled for AIDS symptoms he found that his symptom matches. He also claimed that he went to a lab in Chhatarpur for a blood test and the reports showed he was HIV positive. “ I was shattered by the results”, he added.
Praveen Manwar said that he then discussed the matter with his wife. He also said that his wife and his younger daughter also showed signs of HIV.
After the entire family had a symptom of HIV, they decided to commit suicide after killing the children. But when could not find easy way of suicide, Manwar hit car with wife Shilpa and daughters, Sharvani(9) and Praneeti (2) inside to a tree and car get overturned, when he gained conscious after sometime he came out of a broken window and set the car on fire.
He said that he made four futile suicide attempts before he went to Amrawati and narrated the ordeal to a friend, who advised him to surrender.
Surprisingly, when he was told he is HIV negative he did not showed any emotion. Police have booked a case against him for murder and destruction of evidence.
