Iggy Azalea: Don’t call me `Becky`

Washington : Iggy Azalea recently took to her social media and kept her stand over the controversy surrounding Beyonce’s latest album and a particular lyric about ‘Becky with the good hair’ swirls.

The 25-year-old rapper said that Becky is one name she never wants to be called, reports E! Online.

She tweeted, “Do you know how many time ppl have called me BECKY? it didnt have any kind of positive intention behind it. Don’t start.”

The ‘Fancy’ hit-maker further tweeted, “Generalizing ANY race by calling them one sterotypical name for said race. i personally dont think is very cool, the end. Dont call all asian women ‘ming lee’ dont call white women ‘becky’ dont call black women ‘sha nay nay’.”

The slang term has gained major attention as of late because of a line in Beyonce’s newest visual album, Lemonade.

Later, Azalea took to Twitter again to clarify her comments and slammed the idea that she was calling Beyonce racist.

She wrote, “No i dont think Beyonce is racist nor do i think calling someone ‘BECKY’ is the same as a racial slur. I actually like her and the project.”

“BUT, no i dont think its great to use stereotypical names to describe ANY race. I think we can all agree on that…AND WE ALL KNOW ‘becky’ started because you all think white girls just go around slobbing on everyones d**k. Im good on being called that…AND YOU WILL ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL DEAL. because unless youre planning on walking up to me and calling me out my name, it doesnt affect you,” her tweet further read. (ANI)
