If Sabarimala verdict is wrong, Triple Talaq is also wrong: Justice Sudha Mishra

New Delhi: The verdict pronounced by the former Chief Justice of India, Justice Deepak Mishra and others is the topic for discussion everywhere.

A colloquium held on the 75th anniversary by Dainik Jagran, the former CJI Justice, Deepak Mishra presented the keynote address. Present in the meeting were former judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Sudha Mishra, Former Attorney General, Mr. Mukul Rohatgi and Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court, Mr. Sanjay Jain.

Justice Deepak Mishra in his keynote address pointed out that whatever judgments he pronounced were according to the constitution of India. If anyone violates the constitution, he is creating problems for the entire nation.

It may be noted that the other day, former Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Kurian Joseph had remarked that Justice Mishra was working under a remote control.

Continuing the arguments, Mr. Sanjay Jain raised the question whether the verdict pronounced on Sabarimala was wrong and also the judgment on triple talaq.

He further told that if anyone intervenes in the ways of performing prayers, it is wrong. It amounts to taking away the right to worship. The court cannot decide that the Muslims should offer prayers facing the east instead of the west. In what direction, the doors of the temple should be opened is not under the purview of the court. In the same manner, the court cannot decide whether women should be allowed to enter the temple or not. Justice Mishra told that if the verdict on Sabarimala is wrong, the judgment on Triple Talaq can’t be treated right.

It may be noted that the former Attorney General, Mr. Rohatgi had told earlier that the judgment pronounced on Sabarimala was wrong and that on Triple Talaq was right since during the course of arguments, it was clear that the pronouncement of Talaq thrice at a time has no legal sanctity in the Quran.

Most of the Muslim countries have imposed a ban on Triple Talaq.
