New Delhi: Karti Chidambaram, the son of former Union Minister P Chidambaram, after spending time in CBI custody has advised those who want to lose weight, saying “I have lost my appetite and am eating very less, due to which I have lost a lot of weight and it is good also.”
“I need a new set of clothes as all my old clothes have become loose. So if anyone wants to lose weight they should dial CBI,” Karti told NDTV after he was sent to 12 days of judicial custody in Tihar jail. Moreover, he was neither allowed to keep a cell phone nor even a watch, “It was a good experience. I used to ask officials what time it was,” Karti told his lawyers. Karti had no complaints against the CBI officials, ‘as they dealt with him in a most professional manner,’ he said.
Karti had requested for a separate cell and bathroom, citing security reasons, however, the court had refused this and asked the jail officials to ensure his security. “We follow rules. When the court asked us to if we could allow him home cooked food, we did oblige,” a senior official said.
Karti Chidambaram was arrested from the Chennai airport on February 28 in connection with the INX media case for allegedly taking a bribe from Peter and Indrani Mukerjea for getting government clearance for foreign investments.
