Identifying Indians killed in Sri Lanka blasts: Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday said that the process of identifying Indians amongst those killed in the eight consecutive blasts that rattled Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, is underway.

“I have just spoken to Taranjit S.Sandhu, Indian High Commissioner in Colombo @IndiainSL. We are identifying Indians amongst those killed in the blasts,” Swaraj tweeted.

Eight Indians have been identified dead in the bombings that have claimed the lives of over 290 people and wounded over 500.

Sri Lankan authorities have begun an investigation into the worst violence Sri Lanka has seen since the end of the civil war 10 years ago. So far 24 arrests in connection with the explosions have been made.

Tuesday has been declared as a national day of mourning in Sri Lanka while a national emergency has also been declared.
