Kolkata, September 07: Unorganized workers on Tuesday launched a three-day protest in West Bengal in support of eight demands, including recognition of and identity cards to sex workers.
Twenty-two unions involved in the sit-in are demanding minimum wage for all unorganized sector workers along with strict implementation of the Minimum Wages Act and cheap food for all.
“We want recognition and identity cards to all unorganized workers including sex workers,” said social activist Anuradha Talwar, the state committee member of Paschim Banga Khet Majoor Samity.
