Patna, January 05: With six fresh deaths being reported from different parts of Bihar, the toll rose to 14 as high speed icy winds continue to sweep the state for the fourth consecutive day today. Three persons each have died in Patna, Kochadham of Kishanganj district, Mohania in Kaimur district and two in Sheikhpura and one each in Purnia, Gaya and Darbhanga districts, according to official reports reaching here.
Met office has predicted foggy and chilly winds in the morning and evening. “High speed cold winds are coming to the state directly from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir,” Meteorological Office Director S I Lashkar said.
Several parts of the state, particularly northern Bihar, have been witnessing dense fog leading to poor visibility, which has reduced to few metres in some places. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered closure of schools till January 7 because of cold conditions.
The state disaster management authority has also arranged bonfires at a number of places for giving relief to people in different parts of the state.
