Karachi, July 17:Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been banned from bowling for one year by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after failing to clear the reassessment test on his action in Chennai.
The ICC statement said that Hafeez has been banned from bowling in international cricket for 12 months following an independent assessment of his action, which took place in Chennai, the Dawn reported.
The statement further said that Hafeez is entitled to appeal any procedural aspect of an independent assessment that has led to this automatic suspension. However, only after the expiry of this one-year period he will be entitled to approach the ICC for a re-assessment of his bowling action.
Hafeez was reported on June 21 for a suspected illegal action after the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.
The former Pakistan captain was earlier reported after the first test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi in November 2014 and was banned after his action was subsequently found to be illegal.
However, he was allowed to bowl with a reformed action in April. (ANI)
