New Delhi, Dec.01 : The International Cricket Council has admitted that third umpire Nigel Llong made ‘an incorrect judgment’ during e day-night Test between Australia and New Zealand in Adelaide.
Llong had refused to overturn the original not-out verdict while deciding on New Zealand’s review of the appeal for catch against Nathan Lyon on the second day. However, Hot Spot technology revealed a mark on the top edge of the Australian spinner’s bat.
“ICC has reviewed the decision and acknowledged that it was incorrect,” it said on Twitter, adding that it had replied to New Zealand Cricket’s questioning of the decision, ESPNcricinfo reported.
“ICC confirms the umpire followed the correct protocol, but made an incorrect judgment,” the cricket governing body added.
Australia sealed the series with the tense-three wicket win over New Zealand in the historic day-night Test at the Adelaide Oval.(ANI)
