IAS Officers Condemn “JC Humiliation” Incident

Hyderabad, July 14: The executive committee of the State unit of the IAS Officers’ Association met here recently and passed a resolution strongly condemning the the unsavory incident of misbehaviour of some of the advocates of Rajahmundry towards the Joint Collector of East Godavari district. The incident occurred right in front of advocates, many of them were courteous, but some were hostile, insulting, abusive and high handed.

In a pressnote here, the Association honorary secretary, Mr B R Meena, stated that “the Association, in strong and uncertain terms, condemns such indecent and high handed behaviour of such advocates towards a government official of Joint Collector rank while discharging public duty.”

“The institution of Joint Collector is a pivotal and is of great importance in the district administration. A mature democracy requires that public functionaries including lawyer and officers work in tandem and also harmoniously in order to discharge their responsibility towards civil society and uphold the law.”

“The incident is all the more deplorable and condemnable in view of the fact that the Joint Collector’s post in this particular case is held an officer belonging to the weaker section of the society. A case has been registered against the offenders. The Association hopes that the law would take its due course and the guilty would be brought to justice expeditiously”, he added.
