IAS officer sent to judicial custody

Mohali, November 12: Senior Punjab IAS officer Vijay Kumar Janjua, arrested recently while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs two lakh from an industrialist, was today sent to 14 days’ judicial custody by a local court.

Posted as Secretary-cum-Director, Industries and Commerce, Janjua was arrested by vigilance sleuths while he was allegedly accepting Rs 2 lakh as bribe from a Ludhiana-based industrialist in Chandigarh on Monday.

The sub-divisional court remanded him to 14 days’ in judicial custody after the expiry of his two-day custody with the Vigilance Bureau today.
