Ian Thorpe talks about ‘depression’ with Michael Parkinson

Former Olympian swimmer Ian Thorpe got all emotional as he opened up about his personal life during an interview with legendary British talk show host Sir Michael Parkinson recently.

According to News.com.au, the 79-year-old interviewer said that the Australian sporting legend’s intriguing fight against depression shows the darker side of success, adding that he was fascinated by the fact that Thorpe never seemed to enjoy his success apart from the beginning of his career as a boy who conquered the world and then gave it all away.

Thorpe is nicknamed Thorpedo due to his 22 world record breaking performances and had won 5 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze Olympic medals, in addition to claiming 11 World Championship titles, 10 Commonwealth Games gold medals and 9 Pan Pacific titles. (ANI)
