India Against Corruption core committee member Gopal Rai has demanded that the Centre pass a strong Lokpal Bill in the on-going Parliament session.
Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Gopal Rai alleged that the leaders of several political parties enacted dramas over passage of Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill 2011. He demanded that the Union government bring about ‘Whistle Blowers Protection Act’ to protect Right To Information activist and whistle blowers in the country.
Rai said that Hyderabad unit would organize a protest in support of day-long fast by Anna Hazare on March 25 at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi against killing of IPS officer Narendra Kumar and strong Jan Lokpal Bill.
Another IAC core committee member Chandra Mohan said that next phase of the movement would be in the form of an ideas campaign and lunch discussion forums at locality, village, mandal and district levels to create two way communications. He said that active members team would be formed in the State shortly. For further penetration of the movement into all parts of the State, the meetings would be held at different places. Initially, they have identified places like Visakapatnam, Vijayawada, Karimnagar, Tirupati/ Chitoor and Nalgonda districts. He said that a State-level conference will be held in April or May this year. (NSS)
