Actor-director Satish Kaushik would love to make a sequel to his 2003 Salman Khan-starrer hit “Tere Naam”.
Kaushik said he even has a perfect idea about the storyline but is not sure whether Salman would be interested.
“If ‘Tere Naam 2’ happens I will be the first person to jump on it. There are thousands of people asking me on Twitter and Facebook to make the film and I would love to. But I don’t know when and how?
“Now Salman is into an absolutely new zone. His success is beyond anything and he is more than a superstar. I don’t know if he will be interested. But yes something is definitely there in my mind for ‘Tere Naam 2’,” Kaushik told PTI.
The “Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai” helmer, who has been a part of many movies that became hit, believes box office and critical acclaim are two different things.
“‘Tere Naam’ got one star. I literally had tears in my eyes and then on the other side collection reports came. Box office and criticism are two totally different things. At times, the value of film is realised many years after its release. ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ became a cult over the years.”
Kaushik is totally against the slapstick humour and appreciates the way Rajkumar Hirani pulls it off.
“There are two types of comedy — one is very classy, real, situational and then there are David Dhawan films which I have done. They are clean comedies that is why they are still popular.
“I give full marks to Raju Hirani to make films like ‘Munnabhai’ and ‘3 Idiots’ which has social message. But humour at somebody else’s cost has never impressed me. I have never done it. I will joke about myself, for me that is better,” he said.
The filmmaker has completed the script of his new directorial venture and has some meaty projects lined up for release.
“I have just completed my work in Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Udta Punjab’. There is one English film ‘Promise Dad’ that released in UK three weeks back and will soon make it to Indian theatres as well. Script of my next directorial project is also ready, it is titled ‘Maya Nagri’ and I will start working on it soon,” he said.
