‘I will prove my innocence’: Dharmana

Breaking his silence more than a month after the CBI had included his name in the chargesheet in the Vanpic land Case on August 13, Andhra Pradesh Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao expressed confidence that he would prove his innocence. Mr Rao had resigned as minister on August 14. However, the Chief Minister has not taken any decision on accepting it. Talking to the media here, the minister said he met the Chief Minister last night and offered his explanation on the allegations. He said the CBI has sought the government’s permission to prosecute him.

Mr Dharmana said he hoped that the Chief Minister would come to a decision on his resignation based on his explanation.

He maintained that no one could sanction ‘even a single acre of land without the permission of the cabinet’ and asserted that he would prove wrong all the allegations against him. UNI
