I will abide by decision of the High Command: Jagan Reddy

Hyderabad, September 06: Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and late Y S Rajsekhara Reddy today said he would abide by the decision of the Congress High Command on the issue of successor of his father and appealed to the party workers and leaders not to resort to signature campaigns, even as Dr Reddy’s loyalists were demanding the party High Command to make his son and party MP, as Chief Minister and disrupted the condolence meeting at party headquarers.

In a statement here, Mr Jagan said he would follow the footsteps of his father while discharging his duties as a loyal and disciplined Congress worker. “We are all members of a big Congress family, which has a long history and tradition of 125 years. It is our good fortune to be members of this great family, that has not only brought freedom for our country, but also institutionalised democracy in our country”, he added.

He said Congress workers knew that it is the tradition of our party to leave the decision of leadership to the high command and our beloved leader and All India Congress Committee(AICC) President and United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. The Congress leader said he came to know that some party leaders and workers were rushing to the media and suggesting their choices for the coveted portfolio.

“I request every one with folded hands to stop such activities by going to the media, signature campaigns, using of banners and placards demonstrations, among others as this is not the time or the occasion”. “I request you to await the decision of our beloved leader Sonia Gandhi on the issue of leadership and also urge you to abide the decision,” he added.
