Mumbai, August 03: She’s the child bride who has been giving the saas and bahus a run for their money since she burst on to the scene. Her show Balika Vadhu still rules the charts even a year after it was first screened on television. However, during a stroll with Avika Gor at the Juhu beach, she comes across as someone who is maturing fast with each passing day. Also, she hardly seems affected by her celebrity status.
“Though a lot of people recognise me, my schoolmates and friends treat me the same way they used to treat me earlier. It’s just that they tease by calling me names like chuhia or Anandi (her screen name) which I don’t mind at all,” she says.
Since her childhood, Avika has been very passionate about dance. After her school and shooting hours, everyday she attends dance classes. “I just feel very happy when I am dancing. This is something that’s very close to my heart. I make sure that I never miss out on my dance classes,” she says.
Avika also doesn’t want the arclights to interfere with her education. She wants to continue studying and acting side by side. “I want to complete my graduation. I would like to take up mass media. That’s one course I am destined to do. Amidst all these, I want to win the crown of Miss Universe, too,” she says smiling.
Even though she attracts attention from commoners on the beach, it’s the drizzle that gets her excited. She gets down to make castles out of the sand. “I have always come to this place with family and cousins. The beach is a very happy place and the kind of stuff you find here is just awesome.”
Since she is busy finishing her school and shooting hours, does she miss playtime? Pat comes the reply. “I don’t miss my playtime at all. I play on the sets, on and off shooting. I am allowed to play whenever I want to,” she ends.
