I support Didi, Modi govt has become arrogant, its downfall inevitable: Navjot Singh Sidhu

Pune (Maharashtra): Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday came out in support of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and hit out at the “arrogant” central government, saying that it is deliberately trying to “humiliate” her government.

“I fully support Didi. The central government is deliberately trying to humiliate the elected government of Bengal. People are watching this. They have become arrogant and arrogance leads to downfall,” said Sidhu while addressing the media here.

His remark comes after a full-blown face-off between West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee government and the Centre on Sunday as a CBI team moved to arrest the Police Commissioner of Kolkata. However, the police, in turn, detained five officials causing a high voltage drama.

Sidhu also lauded Priyanka Gandhi’s entry into active politics as he claimed that the newly appointed General Secretary is a role model for women and brings in positive energy to the party.

“Priyanka has been given a difficult seat. The most difficult part is people’s acceptance but people have accepted her, in fact, she is a role model for women,” Sidhu added.

Furthermore, he claimed that the Gandhi family knows how to walk on a difficult path and now that Priyanka has joined active politics, party president Rahul Gandhi will not be alone.

“Rahul was fighting alone till now. Priyanka brings in positive energy. This family knows how to take the difficult route. Rahul-Priyanka duo will shoo BJP out of power,” he added.

The Punjab minister also revealed that Rahul will shortly come out with a policy which will be in favour of the youth of the nation.

Sidhu said, “Very shortly Rahul ji will come out with a policy that will support young India. The policy is expected to come out by next month. The fight is not of the bullet instead it is of the ballot.”
